If you want optical quality and edge strength to land in spec, uniform heating is the only path. The protection mesh keeps the heating zone intact, cuts convective losses, and keeps the element safe from contact and contamination. Plan for 3–5 mm around the mesh frame so you don’t rub fixtures and you still get proper airflow.
