Here is the honest truth about infrared heaters: the filament usually isn’t what gives out first. It’s the connections. Most of the time, it’s just moisture and dust creeping in, creating little electrical shortcuts or causing hot spots that fry the system. It’s frustrating. You buy a part, and instead of lasting years, it dies because of a little bit of grime. We decided to fix that by using IP65-rated sealing on our replacement elements. What does IP65 actually do for you? In plain English, it means the unit is dust-tight and can handle water jets hitting it from any angle. If you’re working in a factory with coolant mist or doing heavy wash-downs, this is a lifesaver. We use reinforced seals and high-temp silicone gaskets to close the gap between the quartz tube and the housing. This stops condensation from pooling right where the electricity hits the metal. Think about it—when water hits a glowing hot element, it turns to steam instantly. If that steam is full of grit, it literally pits the metal. Sealing the unit just stops that whole messy cycle from happening. The trade-off (because nothing is perfect) Now, there’s a catch. When you wrap a heater in a waterproof seal, you’re adding a layer of material between the heat and the air. Because of that, the outer casing is going to run hotter than those old open-frame heaters. We used thermally conductive alloys for the chassis to help move that heat along, but you still need to be smart about it. Give your mounting brackets some breathing room. If you cram them into a tight spot without airflow, you’ll probably trip the thermal cutout. Why this matters in the real world These are drop-in replacements for those nightmare spots where “dry” heaters die in a matter of weeks. If your line is humid or you’re scrubbing equipment daily, a standard element is just going to corrode. It’s a waste of money.
