When you’re picking out an infrared heating lamp, your first instinct might be to just go for the most powerful one on the shelf. But here’s the thing: more power isn’t always better. It’s really about finding the sweet spot for the size of your room. Bathrooms are tough. You’ve got cold tiles and a lot of steam to fight through. Finding Your Number

It doesn’t bother trying to heat the air first; it just gets you warm. For those medium-sized spaces (between 4m² and 8m²), I’d suggest stepping up to 600W or 800W. Now, if you have a massive master bath or one of those open-concept wet rooms, don’t just buy one giant 1200W lamp. That’s a mistake. You’ll end up with one scorching “hot spot” and freezing corners. Instead, grab three 400W lamps and spread them out. It feels much more natural and keeps the whole room cozy.
The Technical Bits (Keep It Safe)
Since we’re talking about water and electricity, safety is the big one. Make sure your lamps are IP-rated. We use quartz glass because it can handle the shock of a cold splash hitting a hot element without cracking. One more thing to watch for: the wiring.
