
Stop Throwing Away Your Bathroom Heaters
Most infrared bathroom heaters are basically disposable. They’re built as sealed boxes, which means the second a heating tube burns out—maybe after five years of hard work—the whole thing is trash. You rip the entire fixture out of the ceiling and toss it in a landfill. It’s a waste. So, we decided to do things differently. We built a modular chassis instead.
How the modular stuff actually works
We treated the heating modules like independent parts. Instead of using permanent glues or soldering everything shut, we used a slide-in bracket system. Here is why that matters: when a tube dies, you don’t have to tear your bathroom apart. You just pop the cover, slide out the dead element, and drop in a new one. It turns a grueling afternoon of rewiring and swearing into a two-minute swap. It’s fast. Really fast.
Dealing with the heat (and the humidity)
Bathrooms are brutal on hardware. Between the steam and the constant cycling—heating up to a peak and then cooling down—those quartz tubes and filaments eventually just give up. The thing is, heat isn’t spread evenly across the heater. Some tubes work harder than others, so they usually burn out first. It feels wrong to replace a whole set of working tubes just because one decided to quit. With this design, you only replace what’s actually broken.
The tricky part
Getting this right wasn’t easy. Modular systems are picky about measurements. If the connectors are too loose, you get sparks (arcing), which is bad. If the brackets are too tight, the quartz tube expands when it gets hot, hits the frame, and snaps. To fix that, we added a floating spring-clip. It gives the tube just enough room to breathe while keeping it snug. As long as your tech doesn’t over-tighten the screws, you’ve got a system that’s actually easy to live with.
